Bicycle component company Shimano has announced plans to open a new distribution center to enhance its service to French and Italian customers.
This new shipping and logistics base will be located close to the French city of Lyon in south-east France. It will be the third distribution center for Shimano in Europe with Lyon joining Nunspeet in the Netherlands and Poznań in Poland, as well as a distribution warehouse in Istanbul for the Turkish market.
Lyon will serve Shimano customers in France and Italy with the rapid delivery of bike parts and accessories from Shimano brands including PRO bike parts & accessories, Pearl Izumi clothing, Lazer helmets and other agency brands.
Aad Ramondt, Director Supply Chain said “With the continued growth of Shimano in Europe and our dedication to providing customers with the best possible service, we aim to accelerate business in France and Italy with a new distribution center.
“By establishing ourselves in the area we will be closer to customers, enabling us to offer faster deliveries and, together with our retail partners, allowing us to be more responsive to local needs and the demands of bicycle consumers.
"This move reinforces our commitment to the growth of Shimano in France and Italy. Furthermore this supports our overarching mission to help millions of cycling enthusiasts to enjoy nature and the world around them. We are delighted to choose Lyon for this purpose.”
