For riders equally at home in the city and on gravel roads Shimano has several dedicated Trekking groupsets. Last year Shimano's premium Trekking line, the DEORE XT Trekking (T8000) groupset, received an update and now many of those technological features make their way down to Shimano DEORE (T6000) level.

DEORE TREKKING riders are looking for reliable and durable trekking performance on road and on gravel paths, day in, day out, on long touring trips and shorter journeys in urban environments. Therefore the new T6000 groupset is optimised for effective shifting and braking performance to meet the dynamic demands of both urban commuting and gravel riding.

This means you can unleash your inner explorer to discover new grounds on your way to and from the office.

DEORE TREKKING: ready to work and play

The groupset is packed with a number of innovative features to make this possible. Smooth and light front and rear shifters with OPTISLICK cables, 2-WAY RELEASE and RAPIDFIRE PLUS technology make changing gear a breeze. And visible displays on the shifters give riders an easy view over their gear choice.

Highly responsive hydraulic brakes are optimized for trekking conditions with long and comfortable 3 finger brake levers (BL-T6000). Stopping power is achieved through SM-RT54 CENTER-LOCK rotors (180mm/160mm), resin pads and BR-T615 calipers with One-Way Bleeding technology for easy maintenance.

Alternatively V-brakes are also in the line-up with a 2-finger (BL-T610) or 3-finger (BL-T6111) design and cartridge brake pads designed for balancing power/noise (S70C) or performance in the wet (M70CT4).

The drivetrain features a triple 48-36-26T Hollowtech II 4-arm design with an optional chain guard to keep clothing away from the chain ring. All three rings are mounted to the crank-arm spider with a 4-bolt design so the rings can easily be swapped if necessary. Combined with the light action front shifter, HYPERDRIVE technology across all three chainrings ensures the chainset can achieve a high shifting performance under high loads.

To make those gear changes, top-swing or down-swing front derailleurs (FD-T610-3/6, FD-T611-3) provide three different cable routing options for compatibility with a wide number of frame designs. All three front derailleur designs provide wide clearance between frames, mud and chain guards and tires, so there is next-to-no chance of any interference.

The 10-speed rear derailleur (RD-T610) on the other hand offers a trekking-tuned spring for light and smooth shifting on all sprockets. The SHADOW design echoes other Shimano rear derailleurs with a low profile shape and single tension construction that does not hit the chain stay in rough riding conditions.

The rear derailleur can accommodate a total capacity of 45T with the CS-HG500-10 cassette in 11-34T, 11-32T or 12-28T providing the optimum pairing. The groupset is best paired with double-sided Click'R/Flat pedals (PD-T400/T421) or SPD/Flat pedals (PD-M324).

The new DEORE TREKKING groupset comes in an eye-catching silver or stealth matt black finish and will be available from July 2017.
